Details and Reaction: American War Correspondent Marie Colvin Killed in Syria

Shelling by government forces in Syria has killed Remi Ochlik, a French photographer, and Marie Colvin, an American-born war correspondent who spent the last two decades reporting from some of the world’s most dangerous conflicts for Britain’s The Sunday Times. The two died in the city of Homs, which is at the heart of uprising against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.

Colvin and Ochlik were killed when a shell hit the house where they were staying. The U.S. estimates that 5, 400 people have been killed since the Syrian uprising began about 11 months ago.

The latest violence comes as Secretary of State Hillary Clinton heads to London to meet with leaders from the region ahead of a major conference on Syria later this week.

Rupert Murdoch, the chairman and CEO of News Corporation, the parent company of both Fox News Channel and The Sunday Times, released this statement on the death of Marie Colvin:

“Marie had fearlessly covered wars across the Middle East and South Asia for 25 years for ‘The Sunday Times.’ she put her life in danger on many occasions because she was driven by a determination that the misdeeds of tyrants and the suffering of the victims did not go unreported. this was at great personal cost, including the loss of the sight in one eye while covering the civil war in Sri Lanka. this injury did not stop her from returning to even more dangerous assignments. Our immediate thoughts are with her family.”

Dirk Nowitzki

Do you know who mark Cuban is? he is not a player, and never has been if that helps. mark Cuban is the owner of the Dallas Mavericks, and the guy that you always see behind their bench. It is safe to say that mark Cuban is one of the most eccentric owners in all of sports. he cares immensely for his team, and will do whatever it takes in order to ensure that they win games. this includes spending tons of money to get the best players into town, and to make his current guys as comfortable as possible.

Every year mark Cuban gets hit with fines by the NBA’s front office. The reason for this is simple; he has a big mouth, and is not afraid to express his opinion. If mark Cuban thinks that his team got the short end of the stick by the referees he is sure to let everyone know about it. And of course when he does this he is hit with very large fines. mark Cuban has even been known to go out on the court to cause a stir; this has happened on more than one occasion.

Even though a lot of people do not like the way that mark Cuban acts, he sure does bring some spice to the game. As long as he is around as the owner of the Mavericks, the team will always be able to contend for an NBA championship. mark Cuban is one unique owner.

Inside Pulse Wrestling

The soundtrack for this is episode comes from THE GREATEST BAND IN THE WORLD TODAY, MUSE.

Welcome to another edition of THE RAGER and this week, in the spirit of Valentine’s Day and all things with warm fuzzy feelings in general, I share with all of you some of the things I love about WWE right now.

I know what you’re thinking and no, I won’t do that for anything less than $25 and I know you’re thinking “All-Powerful King Chriso (don’t question it), if the title of your column is ‘THE RAGER’ then shouldn’t your column be full of anger instead of what you love?”

Well my answer is simple. Moving on then…

1) CM Punk – yes, Punk has given us plenty to enjoy since the summer and still every once and a while, he will throw out a perfect gem of a sentence and we will all giggle away and wait patiently for the next one. He’s just fun and isn’t that exact what he said he wanted to do? To make this fun again? Huzzah.

2) John Cena – WWE has done something that I never thought was possible in my wildest dreams and that’s WWE got me actually giving a crap about Cena. I’m not talking about all the lame crap Kane has pulled lately but I am talking about Cena’s reaction and the slow build to what has to be Cena’s snapping point (which we got a glimpse of against Jack Swagger). what seems to be happening is a very very slow, methodical heel turn and giving into the fact that Cena is already getting boo’d everywhere he goes. of course, I’m purposely overlooking the “party up in here” moment and Cena smiling while he beat up on Kane followed by Kane retreating and almost ruined the whole thing…how about we all pretend that didn’t happen? And just the way there’s this huge catering to Rock over the past year, I’m actually rooting for Cena to win at Mania. there, I said it.

3) Zack Ryder, Dolph Ziggler, mark Henry – I lumped these three together because these are guys who have struggled through the middle and below cards for quite a while (obviously much longer is Henry’s case) and now have risen to the verger (or beyond) the top levels of the company. Starting with Ziggler, the guys has just been flat-out impressive over the past year and even before then (I became a fan after his match with Daniel Bryan at Bragging Rights in 2010) and he sells any move and make it look like gold. he could sell a shin kick from hornswaggle and (as Joel Leonard and myself have joked in the past) I really think Ziggler could sell CM Punk drugs. For Zack Ryder, before this time last year, who really gave a crap about this guy? he just took it upon himself and created a devoted fanbase that wouldn’t rest until Ryder got his shot…and yes, he’s been a punching bag for Kane as of late but its better than those halfsies trunks and barely getting a match on Superstars. And then there’s mark Henry. I’ll admit I’ve jumped on the anti-Henry wagon time and time again in the past but thats only because he hasn’t shown anything the past few years and seemed as if he was just getting by for a paycheck and was the random big guy that they could put up against whomever was being pushed. at the beginning of his push, I just thought it was WWE giving Henry one last pat on the back for sticking around for so long because the guy is 40, he can’t be doing this for much longer, right? But instead, we got to see a mark Henry that I would’ve loved to have seen all along. Someone who was awesome on the mic and dominated like we all knew he could in the ring. its like the sleeping giant (which makes me think of Mastodon and their randomly weird but awesome music video) finally woke up and whats interesting was that the hall of pain idea was originally pitched for Brodus Clay…does that mean Sexual Chocolate was almost gonna be the Funkasaurus?

4) the Emphasis on Mic-Work – I know this is nothing new because WWE has always been a personality-driven industry (hence why Santino has a job and Vladimir Kozlov doesn’t). But the characters on the mic nowadays is really something special. Just look at the opening segment of RAW (not the Kane closeup) with the Elimination Chamber Debate and I know it was cheesy but it featured probably the best talkers in the business today.- CM Punk – I’ve already stated that he’s just himself and its fun to watch.- Dolph Ziggler is just Dolph Ziggler, which means he’s just showing off at this point- R-Turth is craaaazy and he comes up with random junk and throws it all together and creates something absolutely hilarious.- I will admit that something is going wrong with Miz as of late. He’s usually pretty fantastic on the mic but lately has just…you know…fallen flat…as in, last Raw, he was trying to get a punchline for a joke and he just couldn’t…catch it (see what I did there?)- Chris Jericho…need I say more?- I guess you could consider Kofi to be the weakest link in the debate (aside from the Miz…stepping out of the way) but he kinda simply laid it out there and I enjoyed it.

5) Past Meeting the Present – WWE has always done a great job of honor the great wrestlers of the past and has brought them out occasionally so we can all just go nuts one more time. however, I never have remembered a time where so many greats and legends have been itching to step back in the ring and work with the current talent all at once. I mean, we have Rock, allegedly Stone Cold, Chris Jericho, Booker T, Mick Foley, the great Khali (I’m kidding…I just had to find a way to throw him in my column this week), and the list goes on. I don’t know if its just me, and I could be far off base here, but I get the feeling that WWE is on the verge of an awesome new era and the legends of the past see it and want to help bring us into to it. of course, it may not be as dramatic as I’m painting it out to be but you can’t deny that something…different is going on.

In other news, my birthday is coming up (Feb. 20th) and I expect something shiny and expensive to be sent to my apartment.also, I just finished reading the first book of the Hunger Games and I thought it was amazing. I highly recommend and this is coming from a guy that believes books are for prisoners. If you don’t wanna read it then wait for the movie to come out because the trailer looks fantastic.

I challenged you, Rageans, to comment below and share what you love…and hate (I don’t even care if its not wrestling related). Follow me on twitter and join in on a fun little thing I call #liverager during Raw every week.

Don’t do anything I wouldn’t do twice,Chris

The answer:the Perfect love Poem

Every timeI see you faceit reminds meof you.

A Page From My Writing Life: How Intuition Helped Me Save a Child

How can we sense danger before it occurs? How do we attract total strangers who appear, out of the blue, when we need help?

Mystics say we’re all connected. Quantum physicists agree.

I started working with Intuition as a lark: a bunch of us Romance writers piled into a hotel room during a regional writers conference. We were giddy and giggling, because we’d volunteered to have our fortunes told by a fantasy writer who was studying Tarot cards.

Several years later, I started working as a marketer for a psychiatric hospital. over lunch one day, one of my therapist friends assured me that everybody has Intuition. I couldn’t imagine a more exciting concept.

How do I learn how to work with my Intuition? I asked him eagerly. can it help me be a more creative writer? can it help me stretch my Imagination?

He shrugged. Sure. Go to the book store. Read up on the connection between Intuition and Imagination.

The book store. I grinned. Of course

When I set out to develop my Intuition, I wanted to get better at tapping my Creativity. I never imagined that I would wind up saving a child’s life

But I’ll let you draw your own conclusions. Here’s a true story from my writing life:

The day I met Charlie, I had sneaked out for a 90 minute lunch and was worried that I would be missed at my full-time marketing job. I had no business book shopping, and yet my Intuition was urging me to take a driving detour and turn my car into the parking lot.

I thought this hunch was strange. I was already 40 minutes late. Surely I would be missed at my desk Why visit a book store and risk the wrath of my boss? She considered timeliness next to Godliness.

My Intuition had been this persistent only once before: on the day that it had saved me from being lured to my car by a mugger. I had learned to differentiate between Intuition and Imagination, and my gut was telling me — literally — that another life-changing event was about to occur.

Uneasy but curious, I climbed out of my car and walked past the various stores that surrounded the book store. I tried to imagine all the positive reasons for my gut feeling’s urge to go book shopping at that exact time.

Maybe I would meet an old friend, a new business contact, or a reader who would profess to be my biggest fan. Better yet, maybe I would bump into a gorgeous bachelor who would invite me to the caf for coffee and a not-too-distant happily-ever-after

I wandered through the aisles. few people were in the store that Thursday afternoon, and even fewer of them were men. Instead of bumping into a gorgeous bachelor, I stumbled across a young mother.

She was sprawled upon the floor with a half-dozen gardening books. Behind her, and clearly bored, a tow-headed toddler was climbing the shelves. he was well on his way to the D section when I heard his mother call, Charlie, get down

Sighing, I strolled to the next aisle. Had I misinterpreted my gut feeling? Intuition and its hunches could be so tricky. I recalled my many misfires, the early days when I’d tried to guess who was calling me on the phone, or how fast the pizza guy would deliver my dinner.

Meanwhile, the clock was ticking, and my boss was surely wondering where I was. I felt like an idiot.

Suddenly, Intuition seized my feet. I don’t know how else to explain it. I had no conscious intention to walk to the front of the book store, but there I was, responding to some magnetic pull.

At first, I assumed that I was being released from my Wild Goose Chase, that I’d received some Higher Blessing to leave the building. then I heard giggles. A blond bullet whizzed past me and barreled out the door.

I recognized Charlie, dashing gaily for the parking lot and the freeway on the other side. no one was at the cashier’s counter to stop him. I was the only witness.

Charlie I shouted, running out the door.

The driver never saw him.

It all happened so fast. there I was, calmly grabbing on to a child I didn’t know. And there he was, throwing himself into the arms of a stranger, putting his utter trust in me as I dragged him out of harm’s way.

If I’d hesitated in that split second, if I’d refused to follow my Intuition’s urging to walk to the front of the book store, Charlie’s mad dash into the parking lot would have ended very differently. there were no other pedestrians on the sidewalk — no other bystanders who might have saved him from that car.

My knees were quaking when I took Charlie’s tiny hand in mine and led him back inside the store. I found his mother exactly where I’d left her, pouring over the gardening books.

She’d never noticed that her son was missing.

As I develop my Intuition, I can’t help but wonder. How can we know that an event will occur before it happens?

Mystics say we’re all connected in miraculous ways. Even scientists are starting to agree.

Maybe that’s how I received the intuitive S.O.S. that turned me into Charlie’s guardian angel that day.

Given the chance to makeover any of her Real Housewives of Orange County costars, Gretchen Rossi, 33, would choose frenemy Vicki Gunvalson, 49.

“I love her and she’s very sweet,” Rossi said during a recent visit to Us Weekly‘s new York City offices, “however I think we need to step it up on a few things.”

VIDEO: Wildest OC Housewives brawls EVER!

“I would first and foremost change her lipstick color. She’s been wearing the same lipstick color for the last seven years!” Rossi said of Gunvalson’s favorite nude shade. “I want to see a bright color on her.”

The women of the Bravo hit are known for their over-the-top wardrobe and beauty looks — especially Rossi and costar Alexis Bellino, 34.

Exclusive Video: Why Vicki and Gretchen are at war

“We all love the glitz and glam, doing our hair and makeup and all that, but I think it’s a different level of maintenance that we each do,” Rossi explained. “Vicki might not care as much about looking perfect when she walks out of the house, but Alexis and I might be a bit more in tune with every last little detail, from our mascara to our perfectly matched shoes to the jewelry.”

The Real Housewives of Orange County airs Tuesday at 9 p.m. EST on Bravo.

Is Brady Quinn right about Tim Tebow's public displays of faith?

So why the hell would the Browns sign Brady Quinn? because you always gamble on talent. It's the same reason that I wanted us to sign Jamarcus Russell, and trade the farm for Jay Cutler. I know that Quinn didn't set the world on fire while he was here

Bring back Brady Quinn to be the back-up of the Cleveland Browns.

QB Brady Quinn said via Twitter that his quotes in a GQ story about Tim Tebow represented "a completely inaccurate portrayal." Quinn was quoted by GQ as saying the Tebow-led comebacks included "a lot of, I guess, luck," and added that Tebow's on-field

It got me thinking about Quinn, and the NFL draft in 2007. Coming out of college some draft "experts" had Quinn pegged as top pick. But then the draft began. And then Quinn dropped. When the Dolphins passed on Quinn with the ninth pick, it was obvious

In Michael Silver's GQ article that examined the first months of Tebowmania this morning, Brady Quinn was quoted over several different time.

Ind. Lawmaker Digs In On Girl Scouts Claims

INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Rep. Bob Morris, R-Fort Wayne, is digging in his heels on claims that the Girl Scouts of America are a “radicalized organization.”In an interview Tuesday with RTV6′s Chris Proffitt, Morris said his decision to lobby other lawmakers to oppose a nonbinding resolution celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Girl Scouts was based on online research.Watch: Uncut InterviewIn a letter to his Republican cohorts in the House, Morris referred to World Net Daily, a conservative website some consider to be on the far-right fringe, to back his claims that the organization promotes homosexuality and “is a tactical arm of planned Parenthood.”"What I suggest and urge parents to do is do their own research. That’s what my wife and I did,” Morris said. “My family pulled my two girls out of Girl Scouts yesterday, and we’re going to put them in the American Heritage Girl little Flowers organization. That’s what my family stands for.”According to its website, the American Heritage Girl organization was founded in Ohio in 1995 by parents who were “disillusioned with the increasing secular focus of existing organizations for girls.”"Ninety-nine-point-nine percent of Girl Scout troops in this country, there are good leaders that run these organizations. if you look on the national level and where the money goes, that was my concern,” Morris said.Morris said he hadn’t heard calls to apologize to the Girl Scouts. “The Girl Scouts of America don’t stand for anything. they let those girls do what they want in their troop meetings,” he said.Indiana House Speaker Brian Bosma was eating and passing out Thin Mints in the halls of the Statehouse as RTV6′s interview was conducted. Morris said he isn’t deterred by those who have differing views of the Girl Scouts.”Each of us have our own beliefs. Many of my colleagues support me,” Morris said. “My wife and I believe strongly in the stance that we’ve taken.”Planned Parenthood of Indiana issued a statement Tuesday afternoon denying a partnership with the Girl Scouts, calling Morris’ comments “inflammatory, misleading, woefully inaccurate and harmful.”"On the national level, inflammatory and generally inaccurate claims about a partnership between the Girl Scouts and planned Parenthood have been promoted primarily by anti-choice lawmakers seeking to place pressure on organizations to disassociate or distance themselves from planned Parenthood,” read part of a statement from Betty Cockrum, president and CEO of planned Parenthood of Indiana.Morris was elected to the Indiana House in 2010, representing the 84th district.Read: Rep.
